Warlord CCG : Champions Sets / Nodwick Promo Serie / Battle Box I & II.

CHAMPIONS SET (NODWICK PROMO SERIE) :

As the Stolen Destiny online expansion, the Champions decks (One deck for each faction : Dwarf / Nothrog / Deverenian / Elf / Free Kingdoms, Mercenary) was AEG bundle online promotion of the year 1995. Each decks contains a total 50 cards and were build and designed by some Warlord player champions. Of course, each decks contains a new Warlord type character of each factions and some new cards never printed before. Those 6 decks comes in a special Collector box and contains also 10 new promo cards called Nodwick Serie.

This product was only available from November 2005 until February 2006 through the AEG Store as well as for a short time at GenCon 2005.

The complete Nodwick promos cards serie (10 different cards) were also included with the box even if they were re-printed later. The illustration were based on the popular gaming comic strip created by Aaron Williams. The comic book was published by the author, which ran for 36 issues before its cancellation in 2007.

Battle Box I (2001) :

Released by AEG at the same moment as Warlord Saga of the Storm First edition in April 2001, this Learn to play deck for two players was and for me still yet a perfect introduction to the game. This Box two preconstructed 50 cards deck (A free Kingdoms one and a Nothrog one) as well as one D20 dice, a Warlord playmat, a small 32 pages rules book very detailed including s short story about the Accordlands. Two unique cards can be only found in this Battle Box; Sword of the Chaos and Sword of the North (Reprinted manyn later for the Epic Edition base set.

The cards included in the box are simply taken from Warlord Saga of the Storm without any changing. Flavours texts, collection numbering, rarety are exactely the same.

Note that : A reprinted version of this Battle Box, called "Bigger" Battle Box was release much later in 2003. This new version owns the same caracteristics as the first version but 5 Treasure promo cards were added as supplement in the Box (Knives of Betrayal, Masterwork Armor, Punch Daggers, Rod of Absorption, and Unseen Arrow). This bigger battle box owns a grey silver sticker on it.

Note also that : This Battle Box exist also as a "blue" color version empty from any contents. This version was given as gift or during some Warlord CCG events or tournaments.

Released in February 2006, just before the market release of the Epic Edition (the third base set of Warlord Saga of the Storm), this second Battle Box called "Call to War" it owns the same product caracteristics as his big sister. So a two player starter set of two 50 cards deck, but this time a Dwarf and a Elf Deck. Six cards were unique ; Blood Oath, Cathel Rowan, Jorn of the Summit, Rowan's Duty (Reprinted later in 4E edition), Scythe of Souls and finaly Shield of the Summit. Unfortunately no Warlord playmat this time.

Note that : The cards owns flavour texts that are unique as well as collection numbering codify from 1 to 0.59.
The Card "Fight another Day" doesn't own BB2 as expansion notification but of course are numbered 055/59 and owns the Epic Bug as well all other Battle Box II cards.

"Breaking Out of the Box" (War Journal Online Issue Extract Text):

"In these difficult times, fights can break out between anyone, and battles occur everywhere. Grizzled veterans square off as fresh recruits enter the fray for the first time, setting their feet on the path which will lead them to become either corpses or experienced veterans themselves — or possibly both. Every veteran was once a raw recruit, and the new Battle Box is designed to help the new recruits on their way. The Call to War box contains two complete decks (one Elf and one Dwarf), two dice, a special rule book with a sample step-by-step first turn, and of course the box itself - useful for toting your decks to tournaments or your local game night. For new players, the step-by-step guide hould help simplify the learning curve. For experienced players, this is a tool you can use to draw your friends in. Each deck features a warlord never seen before with stunning art by Jason Engle, a new unique item, and a playset of a completely new action. There are also some nice rares and useful uncommons fixed within, so the box has something to offer whether you just started collecting or have been playing since the first Battle Box appeared.

The Dwarf deck is built around Jorn of the Summit, a fighter warlord who plays heavily on three themes of the Dwarves: item support, readying, and supporting his troops. His deck features a build up of fighters and clerics to support them, along with items and actions to get them moved forward into the fray where they can pound the foe with a personal touch. Shield of the Summit provides a little extra protection for fighters or clerics, and Blood Oath makes it tougher for opposing characters to get rid of those items you worked so hard to equip.

On the opposing side, the Elf deck is all about ranged strikes, with some melee rogue tricks built in to keep the Dwarves on their toes. Cathel Rowan is a scout with an innate pair of ranged strikes, as well as two melee strikes when attacking—so he is useful in either the first or second rank. If he is lurking in the second rank, he offers a subtle extra protection to his front rank: he can spend anybody he hits with a ranged strike. Scythe of Souls, the unique weapon in his deck, weakens anybody it hits —allowing the rest of his army an easier time of swarming the victim. Rowan's Duty offers an opportunity similar to "Leveled!," but much more useful to those trying to kill from a distance such as rogues and wizards".
